Dr. John Smith Saunders was a surgeon in the Confederate Army. He, his wife Sara Claypool Saunders and their 6 children moved from Kentucky to Texas in 1869.
They settled in Dallas and later moved to Bonham.
The second photo is of John Claypool Saunders who attended Carlton College and became a pharmacist until the Cotton Mill opened in Bonham. He became the Manager of the Cotton Mill and retained that position until 1934,the time of his death.
